About Us

As a kid in the Ocean View area of Norfolk, Virginia, Matthew Lascara would steal his dad’s tools and scrounge any scraps of wood from nearby home construction sites to build something.  Ever since those early days, he has always had a passion for woodworking and a work-in-progress.  From large scale furniture to tiny picture frames, his philosophy has always been that handmade beats store bought any day.  

Many years later, and after 28 years of living in Nashville, Covid brought our adult children home for long periods where everyone started to design, create and help out in the garage.  Possibly it was boredom with everything closed or maybe it was just wanting to be together, but Moon Dawgs Nashville was born.  As our friends and family started to spread the word, the orders just started coming and haven’t stopped.

Each hand-picked piece of lumber is kiln-dried and finished with multiple coats of food-grade finish for a long lasting durability.  Only the best cherry, walnut, maple and other specialty hardwoods are used for end-grain and edge-grain cutting boards featuring routed handles and optional juice grooves.

Moon Dawgs can suggest or help guide you with a design, but in the end, everything is customizable so that your board is the only one of it’s kind.
