Your Moon Dawgs cutting board will last for years to come because every board is made with kiln-dried hardwoods and coated with special food-grade oils and finish before you ever get it. To keep the rich wood finish on your cutting board or charcuterie board make sure you do not put your cutting board in the dishwasher.
Wash the cutting board with soap and warm water and scrub well. After washing, dry immediately with a towel and let it finish air-drying standing up or on a raised rack with airflow. The bottom of the board will need this air to dry.
If your board starts to look a little dry or not as fresh as you would like, Moon Dawgs sells a special board cream that we hand mix that can be applied if your board. we mix special organic beeswax with high-quality, food-grade mineral oil which will help your cutting board look brand new. Ask for this special blend when you purchase your board, or email us to send you a can which retails for $5. You can always rub food-grade mineral oil on the board to keep it looking fresh too.
To apply board cream to your cutting board or charcuterie board, wait until the board is dry after washing. Apply a small amount of the cream onto the board. using a soft cloth, buff the cream/wax into the wood in a circular pattern, forming a thin coat. repeat over the entire surface of the board and especially the sides.
How often you need to apply the board cream depends on how often you use your cutting board or charcuterie board and is definitely a personal preference. Most customers only apply Moon Dawgs board cream every 6 months and some only once a year.
